However, the Wyoming Whites are a variation of the Ocellaris Clownfish and the Maine Blizzard Clownfish are a variation of the Percula Clownfish. Sea & Reef Aquaculture is the first hatchery to bring this gorgeous designer clownfish back in production after the original producer, C-Quest, stopped the production of this morph in 2010. Sea & Reef Wyoming White Clownfish are direct lineage from the original Wyoming White Clownfish produced by C-Quest, which is a 100% ocellaris color variant. The Wyoming White Clownfish has a uniform white coloration. Their fins are dark shortly after metamorphosis and turn jet black as the fish grows. Their orange face will develop a beautiful black outline as the fish mature. Some Wyoming White Clownfish have a black spot immediately behind the gill cover (see picture). To the untrained eye, it can sometimes be challenging to tell the difference between ocellaris clownfish and true percula clownfish. The giveaway is their eyes and the number of spines in their dorsal fins (see picture below). The iris of an ocellaris clownfish is typically pigmented with shades of black and grey whereas the iris of a true percula clownfish is typically a clear orange color. The number of dorsal spines in true percula clownfish ranges from 9-10 with 10 being the norm. In ocellaris clownfish the number of dorsal fin spines range from 10-11 with 11 being the norm.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0673/1225/5143/files/image_551f74b1-64e5-4b11-964e-72cff22b898c.jpg?v=1779557255
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0673/1225/5143/files/FullSizeRender_295b0555-1b8c-44b4-b14e-2ad23ab2d92e.jpg?v=1768604881
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0673/1225/5143/files/FullSizeRender_2384f18f-45e4-40d2-8d86-52652663ffe8.png?v=1768605294
scopas-tang
SCOPAS TANG

The Scopas Tang is a striking yellow surgeonfish prized by experienced aquarists for its vibrant coloration and active personality. Sea & Reef created the Phantom Clownfish through selective breeding of several of our ocellaris designer clownfish variations including Premium Snowflake Ocellaris Clownfish, Black Ice Clownfish and super black Darwin Ocellaris Clownfish. The goal was to make a jet black clownfish with the desirable white snowflake markings. We carefully selected only the best fish for broodstock and kept close tabs on the genetics to avoid any inbreeding. After many generations and combinations the Phantom Clownfish was born. We gave it the name Phantom Clownfish because the look of this fish evades reality and dwells somewhere on the edge of fantasy and imagination. The black coloration develops identical to Darwin Ocellaris Clownfish. We created this unique color variation by pairing a Black and White Darwin ocellaris with an ocellaris clownfish. With a perfect blend of orange glow and freshly brewed coffee brown, the Maine Mocha Clownfish is a sight to see. Our hatchery staff agrees that one of the favorite features with the Maine Mocha Clownfish is the dark outline that develops on the lips of some fish and looks like a French mustache. Each Maine Mocha Clownfish is unique and has a slightly different color and pattern variation. As they age and mature they tend to take on a darker coloration. This is one of the larger species of clownfish and is very hardy making it a good beginner fish. An interesting fact is that Tomato Clownfish have two white vertical body stripes when they are early juvenile fish. As they grow they lose one of their body stripes and end up with only one vertical white bar right by their operculum (gill cover). There is a big size difference between males and females for this species, and if you buy a large and a small fish you will be able to establish a pair with the large fish becoming the female and the smaller a male. Sometimes Tomato Clownfish can be confused with the Cinnamon Clownfish (Amphriprion melanopus).
