Brightwell Aquatics' Iodion is a premium-grade iodide solution designed to support the health and vitality of corals, clams, macroalgae, and fish in marine and reef aquariums. Iodide plays a critical role in how reef invertebrates manage oxidative stress caused by intense lighting and symbiotic algae activity. In corals and clams, it binds excess oxygen, preventing irritation and allowing these organisms to remain open and active under high light conditions.

Even though iodine is present in natural seawater at trace levels (around 0.06 ppm), it is essential for various reef organisms. Unfortunately, it is rapidly removed from aquarium systems through filtration and natural processes. Protein skimmers and filtration media like carbon and resins strip iodine from the water, making regular supplementation necessary.
