Brightwell Aquatics MicroBacter Start XLF is a high-strength suspension of live nitrifying organisms, specially designed to jumpstart biological filtration in freshwater aquariums. With 15 times the concentration of standard formulas, it helps aquarists rapidly cycle new tanks, prevent ammonia spikes, and recover from filter disruptions. This advanced formula quickly reduces ammonia and nitrite, making it a top choice for emergency response or for use after surface cleanings and medication treatments.

MicroBacter Start XLF works by introducing a concentrated population of beneficial nitrifying organisms that naturally convert harmful nitrogen waste into less toxic forms. The result is faster cycling, improved stability, and better long-term health for your fish. It is especially effective in tanks with high stocking levels or systems under heavy feeding schedules. This product is part of Brightwell’s professional-grade aquarium care system and is best used with Brightwell QuikCycl for fishless cycling or Erase-Cl for dechlorination. Use MicroBacter Start XLF alone during the initial cycle, then switch to a maintenance culture such as FlorinBacter Clean once the cycle is complete.

1. Shake well before use.

2. Always dechlorinate water first using Brightwell Erase-Cl.

3. For new tanks: Add 30 ml per 25 gallons of water.

4. Add one or more hardy fish.

5. Turn off UV sterilizers and remove filter floss during cycling.

6. Test ammonia/nitrite daily.

7. If ammonia >0.2 ppm, dose 10 ml per 25 gallons again.

8. Tank is cycled when ammonia and nitrite are zero, and nitrate is present.

9. After cleaning or medication: Add 10–30 ml per 25 gallons.

10. For fishless cycling: Use with Brightwell QuikCycl.
